The Biden administration will continue border wall construction in Texas

In an unexpected turn of events, the Biden administration is finally acting on the historic influx of illegal migrant through the U.S. southern border. AP reported that on Wednesday, the Biden administration announced that they waived 26 federal laws in South Texas to allow border wall construction, marking the administration’s first use of sweeping executive power to pave the way for building more border barriers.

This move from the Biden administration comes as an inundation of video footage surrounding the events at the southern border have permeated through social media on X, formerly known as Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Truth Social and Telegram, among other platforms. Widespread footage includes video coverage by Great American Cleanup founder, John Rourke, who recently documented the activity in Brownsville, Texas, as well as other reporters' footage, including Colin Rugg, who covered illegal migrant movement in Eagle Pass, Texas.

The Department of Homeland Security posted the announcement about the border wall on the U.S. Federal Registry with few details outlining the construction in Starr County, Texas, which is part of a busy Border Patrol sector seeing high illegal entry. According to government data, about 245,000 illegal entries have been recorded in this region during the current fiscal year.

According to the Biden administration and Department of Homeland Security secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, “There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas."
