Police investigating cocaine found at the U.S. Capitol

The Daily Mail reported that Capitol Police are investigating after a one-inch ziplock bag of cocaine was found in a 'heavily trafficked' area a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol building.

The illicit drug was found on the second floor of the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) headquarters on Wednesday just before 1:00 p.m. ET.

It was discovered only months after Joe Biden's administration was plagued in scandal after a bag of white powder - that tested positive for cocaine - was found in a cubby hole at the White House.

The Capitol police said they are investigating a 'roughly one-inch by one-inch zip lock bag with a small amount of a white powdery substance, which field tested positive for cocaine.'

'The hallway is on the second floor in an area that has been a staging spot for furniture and supplies,' said the USCP in a statement.

'The area is heavily trafficked by various contractors and employees. It is also near offices such as Prisoner Processing, Crime Scene, Intel and Reports Processing.'

After it was found and reported, the residue was field tested and came back positive for cocaine, said the release.

'The USCP Investigations Division has opened an investigation, which will include further testing, including DNA testing of the baggie. We will provide more information when it becomes available.'

Over the summer, cocaine was found in a phone locker in President Joe Biden's White House.

DailyMail.com obtained photos taken by the Secret Service which included images of the bag of white powder that was found in a cubby hole used to store personal belongings near the White House's West Executive entrance in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

Cocaine was found in locker No. 50 on Sunday, July 2 while the Biden family - including son Hunter - was spending the weekend away at Camp David ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.

The discovery prompted an evacuation of the West Wing and street closures surrounding the White House and then triggered an 11-day investigation once the substance was identified as the illicit drug.

Documents obtained by DailyMail.com also show the Deputy Director of the FBI Paul Abbate was involved in the investigation, which clouded the Biden administration in scandal this summer.
