NEW: U.S. Border Patrol has apprehended 24,296 Chinese nationals

In the latest update on the illegal migrant crisis at the U.S. Southern border, on Wednesday morning, Fox News Chief Political Anchor Bret Baier, shared a post to X with alarming facts:

Baier wrote, "CBP data just released, in the first 6 months of FY24, Border Patrol has apprehended 24,296 Chinese nationals crossing illegally between ports of entry."

"The overwhelming majority (85%) of them were single adults (20,868). Context: FYTD24 (with 6 months to go) has already exceeded the TOTAL of FY23 (24,125) and when compared to FY21 (324), it’s a more than 7000% increase."

Baier cited Griff Jenkins as the source for the information.

According to an article recently published by the Border Report, in Texas, "El Paso County officials are asking [the state] to use its own judges and jail space to hold migrants arrested at the border wall on state charges, [citing] lack of resources."

The situation at the border continues to evolve. This is a developing story.
