Elon Musk says Trump must win the election to save democracy

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, President Donald J. Trump made his triumphant return to Butler, Pennsylvania, where he survived an assassination attempt on July 13, 2024.

The crowd, which some estimated to be at least 60,000 attendees, was jubilant with excitement to hear Trump speak.

A variety of guests, including New York artist Scott LoBaido, Scott Presler, plus Trump's running mate, Republican Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance, and tech mogul Elon Musk were all in attendance.

Musk's comments during the rally took the world by storm.

He began his speech with, "The true test of someone’s character is how they behave under fire. We had one president who couldn’t climb a flight of stairs and another who was fist-pumping after getting shot."

The owner of X said, "Without free speech, there is no democracy." The remarks left some questioning his sincerity, considering many users on the platform formerly known as Twitter continue to experience censorship.

Musk continued, "We have the Second Amendment (the right to bear arms) to ensure the First Amendment (free speech)."

After calling himself "Dark MAGA", Elon Musk urged everyone in the crowd to get their friends registered to vote.

Musk declared, if we don’t vote, "This will be our last election."

By the end of the rally, photos went viral of Musk jumping on stage with excitement as President Trump introduced him.

A variety of users paired the photo with the song "Jump Around" by House of Pain.

After the conclusion of the rally, Musk changed his profile picture on X to a photo of himself wearing the black "Never Surrender" Make America Great Again hat.

His bio now reads: "Read @America to understand why I’m supporting Trump for President." referring to the America PAC, which by its own description "was created to support candidates who champion Secure Borders, Sensible Spending, Safe Cities, Fair Justice System, Free Speech and Self-Protection".

Later on Saturday evening, Musk posted to X: "Make America Based Again!"

The word "based" refers to what Urban Dictionary defines as: "when someone is concerned with doing their own thing and/or spreading the truth, unconcerned about anyone's reaction."

Based Apparel, co-founded by senior advisor to President Trump, Kash Patel, and Andrew Ollis, released the design "Make America Based Again" T-Shirt during the spring of 2023. You can purchase the design in black and in red.

Overnight, the Internet has exploded with headlines entitled, "What exactly IS Dark MAGA?"

The mystery may never truly be solved.
